Product description

Philia — the Greek word for the kind of love that is chosen rather than fallen into.

This attar opens on rose, but a sweet petal rose rather than a thorned one: soft, close, generous. Amber warms it from underneath while muguet and a marine coolness keep it from turning heavy. It settles into a powdered floral musk that is still there long after the first hour.

Held in jojoba oil rather than alcohol — a liquid wax closer to skin's own oil than to any vegetable oil, so it absorbs cleanly, carries the rose without adding a smell of its own, and lets it deepen over the hours instead of burning off. Alcohol-free. 3ml.

Usage tips

One drop is a full wearing. Warm it between the fingertips first.
Press — do not rub — onto the inside of the wrist and at the base of the throat.
The jojoba base absorbs rather than sitting on top: a drop should sink in, not shine.
Rose in oil deepens over the first hour. What you smell on application is not what you will be wearing at lunch.
Keep the vial closed and out of sunlight; heat and light are what turn an attar.

Rose is the most over-used note in perfumery and the easiest to get wrong — it turns either soapy or funereal. ROSE & PHILIA avoids both by keeping the rose sweet and petal-soft, putting amber underneath it, and adding just enough marine coolness to stop it becoming syrup.
